CLEAN UP SUNDAY

I made a meat loaf last night and put it in the frig so hubbie could set his alarm for 6am this morning and get up and just put it in the crock pot. It needs to cook for 6 hours and he has an easier time going back to sleep after he wakes up than I do.
By the time my 8am alarm went off the house smelled wonderful from the spices in the cooking meat loaf.
I got chores done in a mist of rain under cloudy skies.
We had breakfast and put some dried pinto beans with the remaining left over ham pieces in the pressure pot and made a gallon of tea.
We went to church and had a surprise visitor in church as son-in-love's sister-in-law Kristen and daughter Addi came to our church. Re sat with us as Aa and the kids slept late after getting in from Dollywood last night and so did #1 son and his kids. D-in-love was the only member of their family that made it to church this morning.
After church we all came here for lunch , the sleepy heads all made it and so did Kristen and Addi.
We made mashed potatoes, green beans, glazed carrots, cornbread and biscuits to go with the meatloaf and pintos.
Everyone had a really nice visit and enjoyed the lunch. The kids all really enjoyed playing with each other and built a fort in the playroom.
After everyone left hubbie and I got our boots and headed down to check out the bottom pasture fence. The sky has cleared now and it is a nice warm day with temps around 60.
The fence was covered in grass and corn fodder but luckily still there just bent over with the weight of the trash on it.
We used pitchforks and sticks and shovels to clear the fence so we could stand it back up. Aa came and helped so it didn't take too long to get it at least stood back up so the cattle can't walk over it.

We walked all along the creek bank clearing the fence there and making sure it was still up.
All this corn fodder and grass collected around the farm pond and is mounded up but it could be a good thing as it rots down it will give us some higher ground in what was just a swampy area.

The height of the water on the upper edge of the pasture is surprising as these are 6 foot panels and usually the water hardly touches these in floods but you can see by where the trash is as to how high the waters were.
We worked until almost 5:00 and got some of the front fence cleared but there is a lot more work to get done on it.
Aa went home to babysit while Re went to music practice and hubbie and I did chores. I am starting to get more eggs already as the days have just started getting longer and of course the warmth of the last couple days has really helped.
The weather people are predicting more rain for the next couple days so we are crossing our fingers that it doesn't flood again.
I am tired tonight but it is a good tired from the work of the day. I am very thankful that hubbie and I are both still able to work like we did today.
I need to get the last decade post on here even if it makes this a really long post. Back in December of 2008 we had one little boy to spoil and we did just that .

He made Christmas special and exciting once again with the wonder of a child.

Dolly sure looked different back then and she loved this Jiminy Cricket doll.
Thankful for the memories and for the wonderful blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night
