WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS EVE

Slept in a relaxed this morning as this Christmas eve dawned clear and sunny but a cool 28 degrees.
After chores I had breakfast then I got weekly laundry started and hubbie and I cleaned house most of the morning between laundry loads.
We re-arranged the living room so there would be more seating tonight. We wrapped the last of the gifts and got all of them around the tree.

I got out cords for my back yard lights finally so that they would be lit up when everyone gets here tonight.

Then it was time to start cooking for our Christmas Eve family gathering. I cooked a ham, sweet potato casserole, deviled eggs , mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, biscuits and made sweet tea to drink.  Re is bringing green bean casserole, broccoli salad and pecan cheese cake and d-in-love is bringing corn casserole so we will have plenty to eat.
The candlelight service starts at 6:00 tonight and d-in-love and Re are both part of the program so we are staying home and keeping the littlest kiddos, BB and RL while we finish cooking.
Daughter and son-in-love are coming early to help with the food and babysitting.
#1 son didn't go to the program either so he stayed here also.
I walked out in the back yard to take a picture of the lights in the dark and heard a terrible crash and squealing tires. I told son I thought it was down at his house so he drove down to check it out. Turns out the crash was in a curve before his house and the fireman came and shut the road down and said it was a bad wreck.
I felt a sick feeling and so did daughter as we both started trying to dial #2 son's and Tif's phones to make sure it wasn't them as they would have been coming that way to our house.
Thankfully son answered his phone on our second try and I was so glad to hear they weren't off work yet.
As everyone came in after the church program and #2 son and Tif arrived from working late the package pile around the tree grew much larger to add to the kids excitement.

After everyone finished eating the kids picked a spot on the floor and waited not so patiently for the gifts to be handed out. All of them were vibrating with the excitement of the evening even IR who is too young to understand but was catching the excitement of the older kids and was just jumping up and down.
There was a flurry of wrapping paper when all the kids dug into their presents and then started playing with the new toys they received.

Everyone had a wonderful time and I am so thankful for a wonderful family.
My gifts as usual were perfect.
After all the kids went home and the kids got into bed Aa came back after the doll house and daughter came back after some of IR's packages that were here so hubbie and I got a reminder of the old days when we played Santa until the wee hours of the morning.
Thankful for the Reason for this joyous Season...…….
God Bless, Merry Christmas and Good Night
