HISTORIC TSUNAMI FROM MAJOR EARTHQUAKE HITS JAPAN

I wake every morning to a clock radio and the news is usually on and most mornings I lay there and listen to it before I start my day.
This morning's news was very disturbing. There has been a devastating earthquake off the coast of Japan and it sent a 23 foot tsunami flying in off the ocean at 500 miles an hour. They have no idea how many people are dead or missing at this point. Everything is still under water and entire villages are gone. The commuter train is gone, washed out to sea along with numerous cars and ships. Here are a few pictures from the web to give the idea of the devastation.

Tsunami warnings went out in the pre dawn hours all along the Hawaiian and west coast states.
Although there was 7 foot waves reported in Hawaii with some boat damage and flooding there was no major damage in the other places.
Flooding in Hawaii.
Swamped boats off the California coast.

As for my day it was a pretty routine Friday. The weather is cool again today with high's in the mid 40's, it was 28 early this morning.
Gertrude added one more little black chick to her brood last night and believe it or not she is still spending some time on the other eggs, but a lot of time now is spent off the nest with her brood eating and scratching around inside their warm house. At one point today I know she felt the cooler weather because she was sitting under the light with all the chicks under her.
I worked at church this afternoon and again this evening catching some of the ACC tournament basketball games in between.
#1 son and g-son came by for a while this evening and had a nice visit.
I iced cakes tonight and got things ready for market tomorrow. I had to track down my punch bowl to loan to market for a St. Patrick's Day celebration next Saturday. It's one of those things that doesn't get used very often so I first had to remember where I stored it and then dig it out.
Tonight my prayers go out to the people of Japan affected by the earthquake . May they find peace and comfort in the knowledge that this is part of God's grand plan.
Good Night and God Bless.

Hi Marilyn, I watched the news off and on all day yesterday showing this horrible disaster... I will definitely pray for the people in Japan (and other places) who were affected by this tragedy... What a shame!

The birds are singing today... They must think it is spring.

Hugs,
Betsy
