I feel like I'm moldy this morning as the rain continues to fall and the dampness penetrates deeper and deeper.
G-son ask "if the rain was going to last forever?' this morning. I sure hope not. There is mud around here where there has never been mud before. I think this rain is worse than most because it has fell slowly and soaked in to the ground slowly, really softening it up. This is good because the moisture will be good for spring plantings but it does cause more problems. The creek is still in it's banks but in other parts of Western NC folks are not so lucky.
People had to be rescued from their homes in Robinsville when a creek flooded and undermined all their mobile homes.
A tree in Marion, loosened by the soft ground, fell on a car killing the driver.
This bridge washed out in Murphy.
This is Hominy Creek in Haywood county.
It rained continuously all evening as I slogged through the mud to get all the animals fed and put in dry houses for the night. I didn't have to do much encouraging to get chickens in their houses tonight. Hubbie and Aaron put all the cattle in the upper pasture even though we are not included in the flood warnings now, that could change overnight. The horses always spend the nights in the nice dry barn.
I poured another 1 inch of rain from the gauge this evening.
Hubbie and I had supper and then listened to daughter's girls basketball games on the radio. Both her teams won tonight as they played Smokey Mountain Highschool. I sure am glad the game was at home and I pray for the Smokey Mountain players and coaches as they have to travel that long rainy, foggy drive back into Haywood county where all the flooding is.
Thanking God for the blessings of the day and for His guidance.
Good Night and God Bless.
