DAY 2 AT OAK ISLAND BEACH

Why I always wake up before the alarm on vacation is beyond me but I do every year. Awake at 7:30 this morning just waiting to hear someone else stirring around .
After we had breakfast today we headed out to a local tailgate market that is held every Monday morning.

We were sort of disappointed this year as a couple years ago when we were here there were many more vendors and things were less expensive. We did buy some fresh corn and potatoes and a couple jars of homemade jam but that was all our purchases today.
We left there and came back to the house to hit the beach. I had forgotten that today is my 63rd birthday, so happy birthday to me and the kids filled a great need I have with these Ookos shoes. I had tried on a pair daughter had and meant to order me a pair and never got around to it so these are great.
They feel like walking on pieces of foam and have high arch supports built in them so I don't need to put my arch supports in them and they are super for wearing on the beach. And as always I love my card. Thanks so much kids !!!

After a snack lunch we hit the beach, d-in-love didn't feel good so the rest of us headed out.

G-daughter R's first fishing lessons.

It wasn't long until she wanted to join mommy back at the house for a nap.
Daughter took over the fishing pole.
G-son was back in the water quickly and having a blast. I can't believe how big he has gotten in just the past year.

Josh, Daughter and I took a long walk all the way around the end of the island where Fort Caswell is and up to where the Cape fear river comes in. I love the deserted beach up here.

We rested back at our canopy for a while then about 4:00 Hubbie ,me, Josh and daughter decided to go to the other end of the island to eat at one of our favorite places, Blue Water Marina Fish House.

#1 son's family stayed behind with d-in-love not feeling well and g-daughter R not being very restaurant co-operative they thought tonight wouldn't be a good night to go out for them.
I took care of g-daughter I while everyone else got ready to go.
G-son loves his little cousin soooo much.

We arrived at the restaurant about 5:30 and walked right in and sat down which was a first for us at this place as usually there is a long wait. We noticed almost immediately after we sat down there was a line of waiting diners forming outside. We got here just in time. It was very good service and very good food and thanks for my birthday dinner !!

We made it back home in record time and found these two in the little pool.

And #1 son fishing , catching small Mullet that have been running the last couple days.

When the sunset I made some pics of Josh, daughter and g-daughter I on the beach. The sunset wasn't nearly as colorful as last night but the pics turned out good.

We came inside and I made another peach cobbler since last night's went away very quickly.
We all finished this day relaxing.
Talked to #2 son and everything at home is good.
This is the temperature map of July back at the farm showing temps above average for the month.

Thankful for another blessed day of fun with my family.
God Bless and Good Night.

I'm a new reader to your blog so I have some catching up reading to do. It sounds like you are having a wonderful vacation with your family. I have never been to Oak Island but since it is only about 2 1/2 hours from me, I really need to go! :) Blessings to you and happy belated birthday.
