MARCH MADNESS SUNDAY AND HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY to EL

A relaxing Sunday morning to get this day started.  We aren't having any lunch today because we had planned to have EL's birthday party and lunch at Re's but Re is sick. #1 son's family are heading to d-in-love's brother's house to celebrate his youngest son's 1st birthday, #2 son is in Waynesville playing golf so there is no one to cook for today.
Church was good as we had a special prayer for a young man who is battling cancer and has spent the weekend in the hospital in intense pain that the doctors can't find the cause of.
Hubbie and I came home and had the new potatoes and Kale greens that we bought yesterday with some chicken tenders for lunch.
After lunch I went over to daughter's house to help her tag and hang up all the baby clothes she is putting in a sale this weekend.
It took both of us all afternoon to get this job done.
I came home to watch some more basketball games on TV . I have no favorites now to cheer for but there certainly has been some very close , very good basketball games in this tournament and today's games were both very close and good as Auburn defeated Kentucky in overtime and Michigan State beat Duke by 1 point in a very close game.
With both UNC and now Duke not making it to the final four as many folks were predicting one of these two to win it all it will be interesting next weekend to see who actually prevails. The final 4 teams are Auburn, Michigan State, Texas Tech, Virginia, with 2 of these making their first ever appearance in the final four .
After the games I got my chores done and then relaxed for the evening.
As I say good bye to March 2019 it seems this month has passed quickly, even quicker than most other months lately. We have stayed pretty busy with g-son started track and going to his meets every Tuesday . I've been pretty steadily busy at market and continuing to help daughter get settled into her new house. The weather has been rainy at the beginning of the month but dry toward the end to actually be the first month in almost 2 years to have a below normal rainfall total. The temperature has also been mostly below normal although we have had some nice sunny days. Daylight saving time started this month and I wasn't bothered as much as usual by the loss of an hour of sleep.
Daughter used her day off work this month to help me get the basement cleaned out which was a good thing.
We also celebrated 4 birthdays this month as #2 son , Re, daughter and EL as of today all got a year older.
It has been a great month but definitely passed in a blur.
Thankful for the blessings of this day and saying a special prayer tonight for Chris the young man who is battling cancer and his young family as they face a future they could have never imagined.
God Bless and Good Night.

CURB MARKET , NORWEX PARTY

I didn't sleep much at all last night as my knee pain would only subside when I bent my knee and I could only do that by sleeping on my side, which I can't do because that causes hip pain.
When I first tried to walk this morning I got really sick at my stomach my knee hurt so bad.
I found a knee brace and put it on which helped a little then I wrapped an ice pack tightly around it when I went outside to get chores done.
As I started up the hill to the chicken houses I felt something slip on the side of my knee and it suddenly stopped hurting.  I have no idea if maybe my knee cap was slightly out of place or what but I was surely thankful that the pain went away so suddenly.
I got chores done and finished getting ready for market .
Market was better today than Thursday but that wasn't saying too much but I am very thankful for all the things I did sell.
Daughter dropped her things off on their way to pick out some landscaping plants from a nursery friend.
I left market and stopped by Aldi for baking supplies and groceries for the week.
I came home to find hubbie and IR here while daughter and son-in-love went to a wedding this afternoon.
IR rode her tricycle while hubbie helped me get unloaded.

After we got things put away she took a nap while we rested for a few minutes.
I did chores early this evening so I could go to d-in-love's for a Norwex cleaning product party.
#1 son and RL came up to stay here with IR and hubbie while the party was going on.
I bought several things that looked they would help with my housecleaning and d-in-love did very well for herself by hosting this party as she had several ladies there who all made purchases .
Daughter brought me home about 8:00 and picked up IR. #1 son and RL went home also.
I finished chores by flashlight and then relaxed for the evening.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night.

BEAUTIFUL SPRING DAY

Friyaaaaay !!!!   Up to all three grand kids here this morning as g-son has a sore throat and headache and after daughter left with him she brought him back and said he was too sick to go to school.
He felt a little better after he ate some waffles but still looked very pale and he had a really runny nose.
He stayed on the couch all morning.
I got chores done and took RL to pre-school, today is prom day and she was proud of her little dress.

This has been a really fun week for her.
I made a stop at Ingles on the way home for some eggs to bake with.
I had breakfast when I got home and then while IR napped hubbie and I cleaned house.
I feel better today with my achy joints after taking my first dose of Hemp oil last night.
Deb, RL and g-son's other g-ma picked up RL from pre-school and came by and picked up g-son so she could spend some time with him. He felt bad and didn't want to move off the couch but he went home with them for the afternoon.
I baked cakes, 6 caramel, 2 chocolate, 2 pound and 1 pan of brownies while hubbie and IR enjoyed the beautiful 70 degree sunshine of the afternoon.
I got out for a little while after my cakes all came out of the ovens.

I noticed more colorful wild flowers blooming around the yard as the Violets and Wood's Hyacinths are all being pollinated  by the early bumble bees who are venturing out into the warm sunshine.

The forecast for next week could make them regret this decision as some of the models are predicting accumulating snowfall on Tuesday.

Daughter picked up IR and hubbie and I were getting chores done when #1 son came in with a large dune buggy thingy for g-son.
It has a dead battery and needs some work from it's previous owner rolling it but g-son was happy for the possibilities of being able to ride around the bottom pastures soon in it. RL was excited also to look forward to riding with her big brother.

Hubbie hooked the disk to the tractor and ran through our garden for the first time this evening.
The soil is really clumpy but hopefully the rain or snow of next week will soften it some.
It will need to be disk at least one more time before rototilling and planting.

We came inside and watched our UNC tarheel basketball team play their last game, plagued by some sickness of the last couple days and Auburn hitting every 3-pointer they threw up their season came to an end. Congrats to Auburn they played a great game and will move into the elite eight.
I iced cakes and got things ready for market while watching parts of the Duke/ Virginia Tech game which Duke squeeked out another 2 point win in.
I took more of my Hemp oil and got into bed about midnight after tweaking my knee turning to go into the bathroom. Hopefully the pain will subside enough for me to sleep.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

SLOW MARKET THURSDAY

Another hectic market Thursday morning. More frost this morning and another 30 degree icy start to the day.
I dropped RL off at pre-school. Today was "tye dye" day so she had on her pretty t-shirt that her mom found for her earlier in the week.
She was cold and I really had to talk her into unzipping her jacket for a picture before she went into her class.

I met hubbie and IR at market. IR was pulling the little lady bug that the manager Sue brought in for her to play with. She loves to pet the bear we had painted and thought it was a good place for the lady bug to rest on his back.

Re and BB stopped by to visit for a little while this morning and BB enjoyed playing with IR while they were there. Re needs to store some of their beef they just got back from the processor in our big chest freezer downstairs so she is bringing it over this evening.
Connie, IR's other g-ma picked her up about 10:30 and then hubbie went to get his errands run and bring us back subs for lunch.
Since market was super slow today I worked on cleaning out a file cabinet in the office area which made the manager very happy to have extra room.
I am thankful for what I did sell today.
I left market and made routine stops at the bank and PO on the way home.
I had to take a rest when I got home as my knees were hurting really bad for some reason today.
I have decided to try Hemp oil to see if I can get some pain relief from it for my arthritic knees and hammer toe.
I think the extended cold weather is really bothering me this year and this evening I feel like my head cold is trying to make a come back.
Hubbie worked outside getting his fire wood stacked and is officially finished with his fire wood cutting for the year.
I got chores done and then Re and the kids brought the meat over to put in the freezer and the kids had a nice visit with hubbie and I .
After they left hubbie and I finished out the evening watching some March madness basketball on TV. No one we really pull for playing tonight but there were some really good games this evening.
RL stayed with her other g-ma this afternoon at home and got to play with her chicks.

Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

LATE BIRTHDAY DINNER

Team spirit day at pre-school for RL today and daughter brought her a little UNC cheer leader outfit to wear and she was so cute.

When we got to pre-school a couple of her classmates joined her at the "ACC" teams table !!!
I came home to have breakfast with IR while hubbie did his chores outside. There is a heavy frost this morning in the 28 degree coolness.

I baked this morning since we have plans for this evening. I baked 2 pound cakes and a pan of brownies thinking tomorrow will be a slow sales day.
When the cakes were out of the ovens hubbie, IR and I had an early lunch since IR was getting tired and then we made a trip to Fletcher feed to restock out chicken feed supply. We also bought 50 pounds of Kennebec seed potatoes and 10 pounds of early red Pontiac potatoes plus some onion sets for when the soil warms up some hopefully soon we will be ready to get these early crops in the ground.
IR slept through the entire trip and we got everything unloaded and put away and she still slept when hubbie carried her in and layed her on the couch.
I worked quietly around inside while she slept and hubbie collected all our trash and recyclables .
Daughter came in while IR was still sleeping and waited for her to wake up while hubbie and I got our chores all done early.
We are going to the Flat Rock Wood Room restaurant to eat out with other family members for daughter's 34th birthday which was yesterday.
I was very disappointed at my meal tonight as this place usually has great food but tonight the chicken on my cobb salad was cold and tasted like it had just been in the freezer. The wood smoked olives we ordered for appetizers were very small olives from a jar and tasted of strong liquid smoke.
Hubbie said the beans with his pork tasted like liquid smoke also and the fries that everyone had were soggy and didn't taste fresh. Needless to say this place definitely isn't at the top of our favorite places to eat anymore.
Hubbie and I had rode with daughter so she dropped us off and we finished chores when we got home.
We watched Survivor on TV then I did weekly paperwork and paid bills before getting things all packed up for market.
Thankful for the blessings of this day and thankful for a wonderful Savior .
God Bless and Good Night

HAPPY #34 TO DAUGHTER AND ANOTHER COLD TRACK MEET DAY

Another cloudy cool morning as I got out to get the chores done. I took EL to pre-school on this "super hero" dress up day. Re went as one of her favorite cartoon heroes, Sky of Paw Patrol and she looked really cute in her costume this morning.

I came home and had breakfast with IR and then we played while hubbie got some outside chores he needed to do done.
Re called and had better luck this morning with another more baby goats being born as this mama had 4 and 3 of them are living and doing okay. This is the tiniest little buck that BB is cuddling.
When hubbie came inside I did my ironing and then it was time to pick up RL.
She wanted to come home and have spaghetti for lunch so with IR already asleep we came straight home. RL made sure IR woke up when we got here and they both ate a good lunch of spaghetti.
IR is always so glad to have RL here and to share her adventures with her.
The clouds have hung around all day and the temperature has struggled to reach 50 degrees today with a northerly breeze.
G-son had a track meet at East Henderson High school this evening and we are dropping IR off at school with daughter and taking RL with us to meet d-in-love at the track meet.
It is a really chilly cloudy evening and another cold track meet evening so daughter thought it best to keep an already runny nosed IR at home.
G-son did really good in both the long jump.

And the triple jump with his longest jump yet of almost 29 feet..

Today he was also ask to do the high jump, which he has never practiced and he did really good getting to the third round before knocking the pole off in three jumps.

#2 son did the high jump in high school and was really good at it.
We didn't get home until after 7:00 and felt like winter had made a return as we got chores done in winter cover-alls, gloves and hats.
Happy 34th Birthday to daughter today as she gets another year older. We were supposed to go out for dinner this evening to celebrate but she didn't have a very good start to her birthday either as she woke up a little after midnight with a splitting headache and sick at her stomach. So we put her birthday dinner on hold. She went to work this morning but looked really pale and worn out.
Thankful for all the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

DOCTOR RL and HAPPY 33rd TO RE

Monday morning again !!!  Today is cloudy and mild at 41 degrees this morning.  I got chores done and took RL to pre-school. Today at her pre-school is career day and RL decided she wanted to  grow up to be a doctor after her original idea of a witch got shot down by mom !!!

All of the teachers and the kids were all dressed up today and they all looked very grown up.
I came home and had breakfast with IR while hubbie took care of the dogs.
I got laundry gathered and started a load to wash while I put away all of last weeks.
Only one load finished before it was time to go pick up RL.
IR slept on the way to pick her up and then we stopped and had lunch at Burger King on the way home. We thought about going to the park to play but rain started to sprinkle while we ate lunch so we came home.
I got more laundry started and had a light lunch with hubbie while the girls watched TV. Hubbie played with them while I did more laundry and then after they both got really tired I sat with RL and he held IR until they both went to sleep for an afternoon nap.
They woke up just in time for their mom's to take them home.
By this time the rain was pretty steadily coming down outside. Hubbie and I decided to have an early supper while we waited for a break in the rain. I roasted some Brussel Sprouts and made some coconut jasmine rice and hubbie had some chicken nuggets to go with his.
My appetite is still lacking because of this head cold still hanging on. I filled the diffuser with eucalyptus oil this afternoon while the kids were sleeping because they both have stuffy noses also and it made a difference in the way I can breath tonight for sure. My head feels clearer than it has in a week tonight thankfully.
We got chores done in a lighter rain and there was 3/10ths inch in the gauge this evening.
Hubbie and I both spent a pretty boring evening relaxing and watching American Idol on TV.
Happy 33rd birthday to Re today, as her birthday didn't start off very well this morning when she discovered one of her goats that wasn't in the barn stalls had delivered 3 unexpected kids and they were all cold and dead by the time Re found them. That's life and death in the farming world !!
Thankful for the blessings of this day .
God Bless and Good Night

MARCH MADNESS SUNDAY

A beautiful spring feeling morning today as I get chores done and take time to watch the Guinea hens searching for insects in the grass.
We went to church and came home to have a spaghetti lunch with #1 son and g-son as everyone else had other plans today.
After they left hubbie and I spent a restful afternoon and evening watching March madness basketball games as 3 of our ACC teams punch their tickets to the sweet sixteen . UNC defeated Washington  then Duke barely squeaked out a 1 point win over UCF and Virginia won over Oklahoma.
We got chores done and I caught up my blog post that I needed to add pics to and publish . I have been under the weather all week and have actually wrote the post on my laptop from the couch but I have to add pics and post on my desktop so I caught that up tonight.
I am hoping this coming week is going to be a better one for me as I still feel like my energy could be much better and my head is still stuffed up but I am thankful that each day seems to be better than the one before.
Thankful for the blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night

WORKDAY AT DAUGHTERS AND 2009 MEMORIES

Got to sleep in for an extra hour this morning before getting chores done and getting ready for market.
Hubbie helped me get set up and then left early to get over to daughter's and help #1 son who was finally getting to finish grade her and get grass sowed in her yard.
Market was pretty good today with more shoppers out on a pretty and warm day.
I left market a little late after talking with the other board members about a couple things and then made a stop at Aldi to pick up groceries and baking supplies for next week.
I stopped by daughter's to check on the progress of the work and helped pick up rocks and sticks all around the yard while hubbie and son seeded and fertilized.
We all came home and hubbie and I watched the news before chore time this evening.
I am still feeling pretty wiped out and my head is still really stuffed up so I was glad to have an evening to just put my feet up tonight.
Back in March of 2009 there was many memories made some good some not so good but it was a long full month for our family.
On March 2,2009   we received the biggest snowfall of the season and g-son got to get a little sledding in.

When I look at some of these old pics they remind me of past automobiles we have had. In these snowy pics there is #2 son's pick-up truck and hubbie's Honda Accord...
And daughter's Jeep Cherokee that she had for years and loved.

These pics remind me of the cattle we had back them and that we had just recently bought 6 Holstein calves from a co-worker of hubbie and one of them had severely contracted tendons in both of his front feet so we had put him back on the bottle.
We also had other calves and our old Snowball the cow watched over all of them.

Hubbie's mother had been in the hospital in February with a couple stokes and had been transferred to Hospice by the first of March. She passed away on March 4th of that year leaving hubbie's father alone.

This is Pawpaw with all his grown grandkids.
 Pawpaw with grandsons.
My #1 and #2 son.
Pastor Mike with #1 son and d-in-love.
Daughter and aunt Sandy.
In these photos from that month I am reminded of these loyal 4 legged kids that were in very good health in those years.
Dolly..... the teacup poodle.....
Dolly and Bernie..... the Havanese…..
Sadie the Australian Shepherd.....
There was fun to be had that month also when the weather warmed and the March winds blew it was kite flying time and Katelyn , daughter's "little sister" loved to entertain g-son.

And in other special memories from that month the little calf with the contracted tendons made a remarkable complete recovery and became a special pet.

Wonderful memories from a very up and down month back in March of 2009 that seems like it was only yesterday and not 10 years ago !!!
Thankful for the blessings in these memories and for the wonderful blessings of this day.
God Bless and Good Night.
